In conjunction with The Month of Independence, Project Monkey X launched our #jomtry, challenging the people in Malaysia to try or learn something new about their country. The feedback we received involved learning how to speak other languages, wearing the scarf, learning the art of fan dance and many more.
On top of the challenge being made public online, our volunteers in KYUEM decided to bring the challenge to a whole new level! With the concept of an Explorace, students were asked to complete 5 tasks with minimal time limit to be crowned champion. The 5 tasks were :
1. Learning and performing a traditional dance
2. Designing traditional clothing out of recycled materials
3. Doing a parody of a pop song to a patriotic song
4. Re-enacting the struggle for independence
5. Playing traditional games
The participants had a lot of fun but on top of everything, we hope that they learned that being patriotic can be a whole lot of fun too!
Shout out to our volunteers for making the event a success!
